Posatoi

2014
Bronze;
site-specific

Posatoi is a site-specific piece connected both to the landscape it was designed for – the park around a large house in the Hudson Valley – and the family that inhabits this house. The work is composed of five bronze bars, one for each member of the family. The height of each bar is equal to the distance from the floor to the lower eyelids of the family member in question and the width of the bars corresponds to the distance between the external corners of their eyes. The uppermost face of each bar provides a static perch for the gaze: anything that falls upon it, whether leaves, snow, water or dust, must not be removed but left at the same height as the base of the gaze of each family member.
